OnePlus 5 Teased In Cryptic Image, Retail Packaging Leaked

Anticipation is running high for the OnePlus 5, which has been the center of numerous leaks and speculation over the past several weeks. The latest leak comes direct from OnePlus—the company posted a teaser image on its official Twitter account, though the subsequent comments took things in a weird direction.

For whatever reason, OnePlus followers started pinging Verizon in the comments section. Verizon's customer support bot was more than happy to respond, fielding vague requests for help and even a plea for a million dollars.

In any event, here is a look at the Twitter post:
What you are looking at in the photo is not OnePlus 5 (not directly, anyway), but the OnePlus 3T. If you look in the shadows, as OnePlus instructs, you can make out a faint outline of what is likely the OnePlus 5. While you can't really see the device, the photo suggests the OnePlus 5 will be thinner than the OnePlus 3T.

In a separate and unofficial leak, several supposed renders of the OnePlus 5 handset's retail packaging are shown. There are multiple designs in both red and white packaging. It is not clear if OnePlus 5 is planning to use all of them or if just one or two will make the final cut.

The OnePlus 5 will release sometime this summer. Previous rumors suggest the flagship phone will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

There has also been quite a bit of chatter about there being dual cameras on the OnePlus 5. The leaked photos of the retail packaging seemingly confirm that will be the case, as a side shot of the box carries the tagline, "Dual Camera. Clearer Photos."

As to pricing, an online retailer listed the OnePlus 5 for pre-order earlier this month for $450.
