2019 BMW Z4 M40i Roadster Leaks Ahead Of Official Pebble Beach Unveil
Needless to say, the changes from concept to production are minimal, so if you liked the looks of the Concept Z4, there's a pretty good chance that you'll like what you see here in Z4 M40i trim. Some of the prominent features include a large air vent behind the front wheels, dual roll bars behind the seats, and a soft top mechanism to replace the previous generation's retractable hardtop.
Although you can't see the front view of the vehicle in these press renders, you can view the leaked images here. The front view is dominated by a much larger and wider twin kidney grille along with large air ducts in the lower bumper. The rear bumper is highly sculpted and features a small integrated spoiler, LED taillights and twin exhausts.
Inside, you'll find a large display screen atop the central stack and an iDrive controller adjacent to the shifter. There appears to be a wireless charging pad for your smartphone nestled within a cubby ahead of the shifter, and the gauge cluster ahead of the steering wheel has been replaced by another display screen (which is likely highly configurable).
When it comes to power, we're only privy to one engine at this time: a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that pumps out in the neighborhood of 380hp. There should still be a choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission for enthusiasts or an 8- (possibly 10-) speed automatic transmission for boulevard cruisers.
