Sprint And AT&T Expand Their LTE Networks

All of the major carriers in the US are racing to roll out their fourth-generation LTE networks. Sprint and AT&T both announced new expansion plans today. For starters, Sprint is planning to offer 4G LTE service in four new cities before Labor Day. Those cities include Baltimore, MD; Gainesville, GA; Manhattan / Junction City, KS; and Sherman-Denison, TX.

With this expansion, Sprint will offer LTE in a total of 19 cities. Sprint initially rolled out the faster mobile broadband service to 15 cities on July 15, 2012. Sprint plans to announce additional plans for LTE markets in 2012 and 2013.

AT&T is also expanding its 4G LTE network with the addition and expansion of the service in seven markets. These markets include Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, FL; Worcester and Boston, MA; Baltimore, MD; and the District of Columbia. AT&T now offers 4G LTE service in 51 markets, covering more than 74 million Americans.
