Save Big On An Amazon Fire TV Stick And Alexa Voice Remote With This Streaming Deal

Amazon Fire TV Stick
Are you ready to cut the cord and stick it to your cable or satellite TV provider? Now is a good time to do that—over at Woot, you can score a hefty discount on an Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and start living that streaming life. It's priced at just $24.99, which is 38 percent below its regular $39.99 list price.

The Fire TV Stick plugs into your HDTV via HDMI, or into your surround sound receiver's HDMI port, if that is how you roll. You can then use the included Alexa Voice Remote to channel surf and sift through specific types of content. For example, you could say, "Find a horror movie" and Alexa will bring up a list of available options. You can also issue voice commands to pause, fast forward, and so forth.

"Alexa, the brain behind Amazon Echo, doesn't stop there. Just press the microphone button and ask to play music from Pandora, order a pizza from Domino's, shop for popcorn and snacks, and more," Amazon explains.

The one gripe we have about this deal is the confusion over which generation Fire TV Stick you're getting. We are assuming it is the first generation Fire TV Stick, because that is what Woot shows in the pictures. The nearly 217,000 user reviews also apply to the first-gen model. However, the technical specs point to the second-gen model.

Our advice is to assume it is the first-gen model. It's still a good deal, considering the hefty discount and the device's capabilities.

[EDIT: We have confirmed with Woot that it is selling the newer SECOND GENERATION Fire TV Stick, and not the first-gen model. That makes this an even better deal (stellar, really)—the newer model boasts a quad-core processor (instead of a dual-core chip) and a more robust remote with volume and mute buttons.]
