Samsung Confirms Seven U.S. Carriers Will Offer Quad Core Galaxy S4 in April
Lest anyone forget Samsung's Galaxy S4 is lingering just around the corner, the South Korean handset maker issued a couple of pertinent announcements today, the first of which confirms where you'll be able to purchase the device. Samsung said the Galaxy S4 will be "widely available" at seven U.S. carriers and seven retailers this month, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, Cricket, and C Spire.
In other words, all four major wireless carriers, plus a few smaller ones. As for retail, the Galaxy S4 will land at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile, Costco, Radio Shack, Sam's Club, Staples, Target, and Walmart locations. Pricing and availability will vary by carrier and retailer, though some of that information has already begun trickling out.
The other confirmation to come from Samsung's camp is that the U.S. edition of the Galaxy S4 will wield a 1.9GHz quad-core processor. It was widely believed that would be the case anyway, but since there's two versions -- quad-core and eight-core models -- there was a sliver of hope the U.S. market would receive the higher end SKU.
Other features include a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display (1920x1080, 441 ppi), 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of built-in storage flanked by a microSD card slot, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, NFC support, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 2,600 mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
