Razer Nabu Smartband Will Be Available In North America On December 2 For $100

Razer today announced that its Nabu smartband will begin its world tour in North America on December 2, at which time you'll be able to purchase the wearable device for $100 at Razer's online store and, shortly after, from select retailers. It will be available in two sizes -- small-medium and medium-large -- along with four color options that include green, white, orange, and black (kudos to Razer for refraining from making up fancy names for its color options, like "Toxic Green" for example).

What exactly is the Nabu? Short and simple, it's a smartband with various capabilities (we caught our first glimpse of the device at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas earlier this year). It can serve as a discreet personal assistant by notifying you of incoming calls, texts, emails, and other app alerts, and can help you stay fit by keeping track of how far you've walked in a particular day, how long you've slept, how many calories you need to burn to hit a personal goal, and so forth.

"The Razer Nabu has undergone extensive consumer and developer testing, all of which is providing feedback toward the final retail-ready device," said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO, Razer. "This has ensured that with all the features polished—discreet notifications, fitness tracking, social capabilities and more—the Razer Nabu is a device that has something cool in-store for everyone."

Razer's Nabu is compatible with the iPhone 5 on up, and Android 4.3 and higher smartphones, paired via Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). An accompany app is already available in the App Store and on Google Play.

While the Nabu will ultimately sell for $100, Razer is making available an early batch of 5,000 Nabu units to pre-order via Insider, the company's newly launched community platform, for $80. You can find more details about it here.
