Qualcomm Starts Pre-Orders for Toq Android Smartwatch with Mirasol Display
It's called "Toq" and it runs on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, though Jelly Bean and above is preferred, Qualcomm says. As for the technical specifications, Qualcomm is keeping tight lipped about what exactly makes its smartwatch tick, saying only that it will reveal specs "soon."
That's a bit of gamble on Qualcomm's part since the pre-order asking price is a hefty $350, making it more expensive than Samsung's Galaxy Gear. It's tough to drop that kind of money on a product if you don't know what you're buying. However, it's Qualcomm's hope that potential buyers will be swayed by the details that are currently available, such as the fact that the Toq wields a 1.55-inch touchscreen display with a 222 pp.
Other tidbits include vibration support, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 240mAh battery that's supposedly good for "multiple days" before needing recharged.
The Toq is available to pre-order now and will ship out in 1-3 weeks.
