You Can Now Play Shadow Of The Tomb Raider For Free On PC, Xbox One And PS4

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Now is the time to jump on Shadow of the Tomb Raider and embark on Lara Croft's latest adventure, if you haven't already done so already. Square Enix is offering a free trial of the game, and it's not limited to any single platform—the free trial applies to Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, and Windows PCs.

You don't get to play the entirety of the game for free, but you do get full access to the opening levels as Lara Croft journeys to Cozumel, Mexico in the midst of The Day of the Dead celebrations. Your job is to find a hidden tomb.

If you decide to buy the game after a taste for the action, any progress and achievements/trophies you earn will carry over, so you don't have to start the title from scratch—you can pick up where you left off. The game is generally marked down, too, depending on the edition and platform. For example, Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Croft Edition is on sale for $45 (half off) at the Microsoft Store right now. That version includes the base game plus a bunch of DLC (Season Pass) and other bonuses.

Alternately, the Deluxe Edition is on sale for $35 (half off) and the Standard Edition is marked down to $30 (also half off). It's also available for the same price in the PlayStation Store. Unfortunately, it's not as deeply discounted on the PC, though you can find some minor markdowns on Steam.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider continues the story from Rise of the Tomb Raider. It's also part of a reboot, so new players can jump right in without feeling lost in the story line.

On PC, the minimum specs are fairly tame—you need an Intel Core i3-3320 or AMD equivalent processor, a GeForce GTX 1050 (or GeForce GTX 660) or AMD Radeon HD 7770 graphics card, 40GB of storage space, and Windows 7 64-bit.

The recommended specs bump things up to a Core i7-4770K or Ryzen 5 1600 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 480 8GB (or higher).
