Plantronics Unveils Discovery 975 Bluetooth Headset

Plantronics introduced the next generation of its popular Discovery 925 Bluetooth headset. Called the Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth headset, the new version promises an improved audio experience with AudioIQ2 and WindSmart technologies.

Two microphones combined with the next generation of Plantronics’ AudioIQ digital signal processing technology, AudioIQ2, capture the user’s voice and cancel background noise at the same time. Thanks to three layers of WindSmart technology, the headset is also able to block wind noise and deliver clear, natural sounding voices to the listener.

The earpiece on the Discovery 975 includes an adaptive 20-band equalizer that delivers rich sounds and works with AudioIQ2 to adjust the volume of incoming calls to a comfortable listening level based on surrounding noise. For comfort, the Discovery 975 uses the same soft gel ear tips that customers loved on the Discovery 925 for a fit that doesn’t invade the ear canal. The headset weighs approximately 8 grams and uses Plantronics’ signature boom.

Another unique feature of the Discovery 975 is its rechargeable carrying case that has the potential to triple your talk time from five hours to 15 hours. This case has a LCD screen that displays the battery and earpiece charge levels as well as Bluetooth connectivity status.

You’ll find two buttons on the Discovery 975: one for powering on and off the headset and answering calls and another button for controlling the volume and mute functionality. You’ll hear a voice prompt when the headset’s battery becomes low. Voice prompts are also used to indicate mute status and Bluetooth connectivity.

“Consumers expect great outbound noise cancellation in a premium headset, but they are tired of sacrificing usability, comfort, and quality,” said Renee Niemi, vice president and general manager of the Plantronics Mobile and Entertainment Division. “At Plantronics we have spent nearly five decades perfecting all aspects of headset design from inbound audio quality to fit. For customers seeking the perfect blend of innovative design and advanced audio technologies, the Discovery 975 is the ingeniously simple solution.”

The Plantronics Discovery 975 sells for $129.99. It is available at http://www.plantronics.com/discovery975 and for pre-order at BestBuy.com and Amazon.com. The headset will be available at Best Buy and Apple stores in late August and in AT&T, Radio Shack, and Sprint stores in September and October.
