HP Spectre Folio Hands-On: A Leather-Clad Premium 2-In-1

Yesterday, Hewlett-Packard announced its Spectre Folio, which the company envisions as a thorough rethink of the modern-day PC. The Spectre Folio takes on a 2-in-1 convertible form-factor and uses a combination of CNC-machined magnesium and aluminum along with high-quality, hand-crafted leather to create a true premium device.

We were able to get our hands on the Spectre Folio at the event, and we must say, it looks just as good in person as it does in the official press images.  The leather really sets the convertible apart from the rest of the me-too designs in this segment, and actually serves as an integral part of hinge mechanism for the different operating modes.

As we've been stated yesterday, the Spectre Folio features a 13.3-inch display that is available in either 1080p or 4K resolutions, and with ether 8th generation Intel Core i5-8200Y or Core i7-8500Y Amber Lake processors. You can configure the system with up to 16GB of RAM and up to a 2TB SSD. In addition, you can opt for onboard Gigabit LTE if you need connectivity when out in the field.

The HP Spectre Folio will be available later this month priced from $1,299.
