Here's Where To Find A Free Copy of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Morrowind
Bethesda is celebrating the 25-year anniversary of its popular The Elder Scrolls franchise in the best possible way—by giving away a free game! From now until Sunday, March 31, you can log into your Bethesda.net account and claim your copy of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind at no cost, using code TES25TH-MORROWIND. Once you've claimed it, the game is yours to play, even after the promotion ends.

Granted, this is not as exciting as giving away The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or even The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. But hey, let's not look a gift horse in the mouth—a free game is a free game, even one that is now 17 years old.

Besides, Morrowind is an important release in the franchise. The Elder Scrolls got its start in 1994 with The Elder Scrolls: Arena, but it really took off with Morrowind in 2002. The game's open world gameplay was a hit, with Morrowind being the first in the franchise to earn a Game of the Year award. It set the stage for Oblivion and Skyrim, both of which would also win Game of the Year awards.

If you already tried to claim your copy but ran into trouble on Bethesda's website, give it a go again. Bethesda ran into some technical issues during the initial giveaway period, which it has since resolved (I was able to snag a copy just fine before writing this).

Nordic Jewlery

In addition to the free game, Bethesda is opening up access to The Elder Scrolls Online for free from March 28 to April 3, is giving away Nordic Jewelry Creation in Skyrim, and offering a limited 25th Anniversary card back and three card packs to The Elder Scroll Legends players.

"To all our fans who let us into their homes, their hearts and their imagination, we thank you for 25 years of adventures and inspired stories we’ve shared together in Tamriel, with many more to share on the horizon—as the Scrolls have foretold!," Bethesda said.
