Fujifilm Keeps Retro Alive With X-E1 Interchangeable Lens Camera
Are point-and-shoot cameras on the way out? Are DSLRs becoming less important? It might be that mirrorless cameras are impacting both of those questions, and when you look at Fujifilm's latest, you may understand why. The company's new X-E1 is a powerful shooter, packing a 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor, a 2.36 million dot OLED viewfinger, and a body that's 30% smaller than the X-Pro1. It's also boasting that iconic retro look that consumers have come to expect from the brand, with two color options to be available: a two-tone black and silver, and a solid black. Both versions of the X-E1 will also ship as kits with the XF18mm-55mm (27-84mm) F2.8-4 lens in November 2012.
It also supports 1080p movie captures, an ISO range of 100 – 25600, support for RAW shooting, a 2.8" rear LCD and a battery that'll last around 350 shots per charge. It'll ship for $99.95, and while that's not at all cheap, it may be a small price to pay for that amount of elegance.
