Blackberry Launches Motion Android Smartphone With Massive 4000 mAh Battery
The phone formerly known as Krypton has not officially launched as the BlackBerry Motion. Though you will not find any reference to the new handset on BlackBerry's website, the company announced its newest smartphone at GITEX Technology Week, with a shout out to TCL Communications, its manufacturing partner. BlackBerry also confirmed that its Motion handset wields a capacious 4,000 mAh battery.
By tasking TCL with manufacturing chores, BlackBerry frees itself to focus on software and enterprise-level security features. The side effect is that BlackBerry might not be able to supply as many handsets as it wants, at least initially.

"The launch of BlackBerry Motion allows us to further diversify our product offering, delivering new experiences while remaining steadfast with the privacy, reliability and productivity that have made BlackBerry so iconic over the years," said Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for BlackBerry Mobile. "While the initial launch of our newest BlackBerry smartphone will be limited, this is an exciting addition to our growing BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, setting a strong foundation for further portfolio and market growth in the years to come."
BlackBerry's Motion features a 5.5-inch Full HD display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip (SoC) and 4GB of RAM. For snapping photos, it has a 12-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel front camera. The sleek-looking device also brings some durability to the table with IP67-level dust and water resistance, and a scratch-resistant display panel.

BlackBerry says users can expect at least 32 hours of mixed use from the Motion's 4,000 mAh battery. It support's Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology to enable up to a 50 percent charge in about 40 minutes using a USB-C charger.
As for the software, the Motion runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. BlackBerry promises monthly security updates, along with an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo sometime in 2018.
The BlackBerry Motion will ship first in the Middle East followed by other select markets. It will retail for AED 1,699 (around $462 in US currency).
