ATI Catalyst 7.5 Drivers Now Available
AMD
has been diligently releasing an update to the ATI Catalyst drivers
once every month but it seemed like they had missed the driver
release for the month of May. However, it looks they got it out the
door at the last possible moment because the new drivers are now
available for download, dated May 31st. Catalyst 7.5 has two new
features, DirectX 10 driver support for Radeon HD 2900 XT cards in
Windows Vista and support for the second generation of ATI Theater 650
products.
Performance improvements include better OpenGL performance for Radeon X1950 XTXs at high resolutions (1900x1200 or greater) while anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering are enabled. Doom 3 and Quake 3 show performance improvements as high as 13-18% and Prey improves by over 15%. The Radeon X1950 Pro and X1650 XT also receive performance improvements in OpenGL applications.
As with every Catalyst release, this update also fixes a variety of known issues. Check out the Catalyst 7.5 release notes for a complete listing of what's new in this release and then head over to AMD's driver download site to grab the update.
