Windows Vista RC1(build 5564) Review

Microsoft's Windows Vista is getting closer and closer to its release date early next year. The first release candidate is out, and ZDNet has a review of how the new OS is progressing. Containing much more than what Windows Vista Beta 2 had, RC1 is a step in the right direction, but there's still room for improvement, and we may end up seeing RC2 before the final release of the OS.

"Microsoft has released Windows Vista Release Candidate 1, but without the big media splash the software giant made back in 2001 with the release of Windows XP RC1. The first builds of Windows Vista RC1 have been released to about half a million Technical Beta Program and MSDN and Technet subscribers, with more testers receiving their copies on or around September 1 2006. Later in September, Microsoft will offer public downloads to the 1.5 million already participating in the Windows Vista Beta 2 program and open that program to an additional 1.5 million new sign-ups. Further, Microsoft will make 2 million copies of Vista RC1 available to the general public in the form of magazine inserts."
