Walmart To Slash iPhone 5C to 97 Cents, iPhone 5S to $79 To Make Room For iPhone 6 Inventory

If you're looking to score the best deal on an iPhone, typically the best time to pounce is right before Apple launches a new model. When that time of year comes around, retailers inevitably slash prices on current generation models to make room for the new handsets, as Walmart is about to do with its stockpile of iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S handsets.

The folks at CNET have it on good authority (a Walmart spokesperson) that Walmart's planning to reduce the price of the iPhone 5C from $29 to just $0.97 effective Thursday at 9 AM local time. Walmart is also planning to cut the price of its remaining iPhone 5S inventory, which will drop from $99 to $79.

All color options are included in the price reductions. They also require a two-year service agreement with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, or U.S. Cellular.

Though no announcement has been made, the price cuts are obvious indicators of Apple's impending launch of the iPhone 6 next month. Leaked photos, documents, videos, and information have been hitting the web at a steady pace for the last several months, most of which point to Apple releasing 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions of its next flagship handset.
