Samsung To Beat Apple To The Punch With Galaxy Note 4 Launch In Early September

As Apple continues to hammer out manufacturing logistics with TSMC and contends with delays related to the much hyped semi-sapphire crystal glass material that we're still hoping makes it onto the iPhone 6, Samsung is apparently gearing up to launch its next-generation Galaxy Note 4 in Berlin on September 3, 2014.

That's according to Samsung's top-tier local parts suppliers, Korea Times reports. Samsung is said to be in a rush to launch the Galaxy Note 4 ahead of Apple's iPhone 6 line, the latter of which is expected to attract unprecedented demand in the mobile space.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 will be bigger and faster than the Note 3 shown above.

If the rumors are right, Apple will launch two versions of the iPhone 6 -- one with a 4.7-inch display and the other with a 5.5-inch screen, putting it into phablet territory and in direct competition with Samsung's Galaxy Note family. Given the popularity of Apple's brand, you can expect that some previous Note owners will make the jump to the iPhone, if it indeed launches with a 5.5-inch display.

On the flip side, the Galaxy Note 4 will hold its own with "far better specifications than the Galaxy S5 smartphone," Samsung Electro-Mechanics Chief Financial Officer Kwon Houng-noh recently said. We already got a glimpse of the Galaxy Note 4's potential power when it made a cameo in AnTuTu.
