Origin PC, CyberPowerPC Release Thin And Light Gaming Notebooks

It seems that the era of bulky gaming laptop beasts is over as most PC builders are releasing slim machines that deliver impressive gaming performance in surprisingly svelte form factors. Origin PC and CyberPowerPC are on the bandwagon as both companies are releasing new gaming notebooks.

The Origin PC EVO 15-S weighs 4.36 lbs and measures .79 inches thick and features a 15.6-inch Full HD eDP display (with a 3K option coming soon); under the hood rumbles an Intel Core i7-4710HQ chip and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M 3GB GPU. The storage configuration is tantalizing: it’s comprised of a pair of 128GB SSDs in RAID 0 with a 1TB 7200rpm HDD.

Other features include 16GB (2 x 8GB) of DDR3L-1600MHz RAM, Killer E2200 Game Networking, Intel dual-band wireless AC 7260, and built-in 720p HD webcam, and ports include three USB 3.0 and a media card reader.

The EVO 15-S starts at $2,199.

CyberPowerPC’s lithe gamer is the Zeusbook Edge X6, which weighs 4.75 pounds and measures 0.82 inches thick. It has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display and sports an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor and NVIDIA GTX 870M (6GB) GPU.

One somewhat surprising feature of the Zeusbook is that it has an optical drive, a feature that’s quickly vanishing. Although there are various storage configuration options available including SSDs, the Zeusbook starts with a 1TB HDD. There’s also 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 2.1 Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater speakers, 802.11n WiFi plus Bluetooth, an SD card reader, and two USB 3.0 ports.

The Zeusbook Edge X6-100 starts at $1,389.
