Olympus Introduces 16MP PEN Lite E-PL6 Micro Four Thirds Camera

While DSLRs are still quite the rage, it's the interchangeable lens format that's seriously taking off. Olympus' Micro Four Thirds division has been one of the more popular ones, and the company's introducing the new PEN Lite E-PL6 line this week in order to advance that further. Scheduled to go on sale in June, this camera offers a 16MP sensor, TruePic VI processing engine, faster focusing, and a touch panel. The camera also features a range of substantial new functions that make photography more convenient and expand the shooting possibilities of the camera. These include a Short Release Time Lag mode, ISO LOW setting, interval Shooting, Time lapse movies and a Level guide. With Red as a new color, in addition to White, Silver and Black, the body is available now in a total of for color variations.

Plenty of Art Filters are included for those who'd prefer to filter things up right on the camera, but unfortunately, Wi-Fi nor Android is included. Users can easily convert a series of pictures taken using interval shooting into a time lapse movie, and it features a two-axis (horizontal and vertical) digital level guide that allows users to accurately frame pictures even when there are no horizontal lines in the composition or when shooting a dark night scene. There's a 1080p movie mode as well, but Olympus isn't saying how much this guy will cost you.
