Lenovo Chases Your Tax Refund With Low Cost Laptops, AIO Desktops, And Dual Mode FLEX 2
Unless you applied for an extension, the deadline to settle up with Uncle Sam and file your taxes was yesterday. Assuming you did that, you now know how much of a refund you're owed, and Lenovo would like nothing more than for you to spend it on a new PC. If you owe taxes instead but are still in need of a new system, Lenovo rolled out some low cost laptops you should know about.
We'll start with the FLEX 2. Available in 14-inch and 15.6-inch form factors, these dual-mode systems give users 300 degrees of flexibility so that they can be used as a standard laptop or oriented in Stand mode for viewing movies.
The FLEX 2 comes with AMD and Intel processor options, up to 1TB of HDD or hybrid SSDH storage or up to a 256GB SSD, optional backlit keyboard, stereo speakers, dual array digital micrphone, NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon R5 M230 graphics, 10-finger touchscreen display, and Windows 8.1. Lenovo says these will be available beginning in June starting at $429.
Even more affordable are Lenovo's new B50 and G50 laptops, both of which start at $399. The B50 sports a 15-inch display with either a 1366x768 (HD) or 1920x1080 (Full HD) resolution, up to a 4th Generation Intel Core i7 processor or AMD A8 APU, optional GeForce 820M or AMD Radeon R5 M230 graphics, up to 1TB of HDD or hybrid SSD storage, DVD burner, optional fingerprint reader, and Windows 7. The B50 is aimed at business users and will be available in July.
Meanwhile, the G50 takes on general computing chores and comes with up to an Intel Core i7 CPU or AMD R5-M230 processor. It has a DVD burner, HD display, HD webcam, Lenovo's VeriFace Pro facial recognition software, and Windows 8.1. The G50 will also be available in July.
Rounding out the laptop additions are Z40 and Z50 models for multimedia buffs. These measure under an inch thin, come with up to a Full HD 1080p display, DVD burner, large storage options, 720p webcam, and up to AMD Radeon R7 discrete graphics.
Finally, Lenovo lifted the curtain on its A540 all-in-one (AIO) desktop system. This thing touts a super bright 23.8-inch Full HD 1080p In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel wrapped in an aluminum shell that measures just four millimeters thin at its edge. It comes with up to an Intel Core i7 processor, up to a GeForce GT 840A graphics, NFC support, JBL speakers, optional TV tuner, and Windows 8.1.
The Lenovo A540 AIO will be available in July starting at $1,280.
