Kindle Fire HD Dominates Holiday Sales at Amazon

Mega online shopping site Amazon was proud as a peacock to announce its Kindle Fire HD is the best selling, most gifted, and most wished for product across its catalog of millions of items since the upgraded tablet was introduced 15 weeks ago, though stopped short of offering up specific sales figures. The next three spots belong to the Kindle Fire, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle, in that order.

The holiday season in general was kind to Amazon. Christmas Day ranked as Amazon's busiest day ever for digital downloads across its selection of more than 23 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, books, audiobooks, apps, and games, the company said. On its peak day, Amazon shipped over 15.6 million items across all product categories.

Amazon also revealed some oddball facts. For example, Amazon revealed that the last Local Express Delivery order that was delivered in time for Christmas went to Seattle, WA. In case you're wondering, it was for a Case Logic 14.1-inch Laptop Attache that was ordered at precisely 11:44 AM PST on Christmas Eve and delivered at 2:44 PM PST that same day. Here's another: Amazon customers purchased enough copies of the Fifty Shades trilogy to create a stack 445 times taller than the Space Needle. In addition, customers purchased enough TVs to cover the field of every NFL stadium.
