Google and Motorola Bundle Moto X and Chromecast for as Low as $399, No Contract

Perhaps if you hold out long enough, Motorola might start giving away its Moto X smartphone, no strings attached. In the meantime, the latest promotion intended to drum up interest in the first smartphone built in the U.S. is the bundling of Google's Chromecast dongle at no additional charge when you purchase a Moto X off-contract.

It seems Motorola is having trouble selling the Moto X, hence all the recent promotions. The handset maker has already dropped the price of the Moto X on two separate occasions, including at the beginning of this month; it now sells for $400 for the 16GB model and $450 for the 32GB model, both of which are off-contract prices.

Moto X Chromecast Bundle

As a refresher, the Moto X features a 4.7-inch HD display (1280x720), 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of built-in storage, 2MP front-facing camera, 10MP rear-facing camera, micro USB 2.0 port, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Android 4.4 KitKat.

To get a free Chromecast bundled in, you need to purchase the handset from Motorola's website and use the promo code STREAM. The Chromecast dongle certainly sweetens the deal, though if you have little interest in the Moto X to begin with, you're better off buying a Chromecast separately -- the dongle only runs $35 MSRP, and sometimes you can catch it on sale.
