Google Adds More Radness To Chromecast, New Apps Include Showtime Anytime, Starz, And More
Google's little HDMI Chromecast dongle has been on the market for just over a year now, and as much as we liked it when it first came out, it's even better today. That's thanks to a constant stream up of updates. Hundres of apps have been added, such as HBO Go and Pandora, to name just two of many, and with the most recent update, even more have joined the fray.
Just in time for the holidays, Google added a handful of family-friendly games like Wheel of Fortune, Hasbro's Monopoly Dash, Scrabble Blitz, Connect Four Quads, and Simon Swipe. For each one, you can use your phone or tablet as the controller and our TV as the game board or score board.
You'll also find more active titles such as Just Dance Now, in which your smartphone determines if you're fist pumping high enough or shaking your hands down low. And then there's mental fare like Big Web Quiz and Emoji Party for you trivia buffs.
"There's no hassle or expense with extra controllers. Anyone with a phone or tablet can join in on any of these games, so download these apps from the Play Store or App Store so all your family and friends can shake it, show off their smarts or just play," Google said in a blog post.
If you prefer to sit back and relax to a movie, you have additional options via Chromecast. The streaming dongle now supports Showtime Anytime and Starz. Between the two, you can catch original series like Homeland and The Affair, and the first season of Outlander.
