Gmail adds YouTube, Picasa, Flickr, Yelp Preview

It's always a pain in the rear when a friend sends you a link to a photo or video when you're in the middle of doing something and you don't want to take the time out to open the link in a new tab.

Google decided the pain was too great to force those using Gmail to have to do that one moment longer, and users now can get previews for YouTube videos, Picasa or Flickr pictures or Yelp ratings right there in your e-mail.

In Google Labs, you can enable the previews for any or all of the services in your e-mail.

For YouTube, you'll be able to watch entire videos without leaving your Gmail. Just click play, and it'll run right through without opening a new tab or going to YouTube.

E-mails with Picasa album links will display all the photos in the album in your e-mail and you can choose just the photos you want to see in a larger size. And it works similarly with Flickr. Of course, if you want to see larger sizes, you'll need to click through, but you can make that decision before clicking through.

Any Gmail e-mail with a Yelp link will also automatically give you the ratings, restaurant name and phone number and some other listing information, all right there on your screen.
