Apple in a Giving Mood, Treats iOS Users to 12 Days of Gifts

Tis the season of giving, and if you're an iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone users, Apple is giving away a new digital item for 12 straight days beginning December 26. To collect on the goods, you'll need to download the "12 Days of Gifts" app from iTunes (just hit the source link at the bottom of this article) and then check in every day to collect your gift.

"Each day's gift will only be available for 24 hours, so download the free app to make sure you don't miss out," Apple says.

Apple 12 Days of Gifts

The is new to the U.S market; previously it was only available in Canada and Europe. Barring any Internet leaks, there's no way to know what specific gift each day will bring, though it could be a song, app, book, movie, or something else. Pretty much anything digital that's offered in iTunes is fair game.

Kudos to Apple for extending the giveaways to the U.S. market. Prior to this, the Cupertino company received a bit of criticism for its Black Friday discounts on mobile products, or lack thereof. Rather than mark down prices on iPads and other devices, Apple decided to bundle gift cards in place of cash discounts.

The 12 Days of Gifts promotion runs from December 26 to January 6.
