The Sapphire Ultimate Edition Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro is also equipped with a custom, passive cooling system, but the heatsinks on this card are much smaller than the ones found on its big brother.  In fact, they are so much smaller that users won't have to give up a PCI slot with the Ultimate Edition 9600 Pro.  It's tight, but you can still fit most PCI cards in the first slot.  The heatsinks can smaller because the 9600 Pro GPU itself generates far less heat than the 9800 Pro, which was abundantly clear after we took the temperature readings listed on page one.  This card too is populated by 128MB of DDR RAM, but there are no RAM-sinks on the Ultimate Edition 9600 Pro.  Like the 9800 Pro, the PCB is also based on an ATi reference design, although it is gloss black as opposed to the boring green used on the ATi built model.

The Ultimate Edition 9600 Pro's bundle is very similar to that of the 9800 Pro.  Sapphire included a similar user's manual, a Molex power cable splitter, a DVI-to-DB15 adapter, an S-Video-to-RCA adapter, an S-Video cable and a composite video cable.  The Ultimate Edition Radeon 9600 Pro also ships with the same software, minus one game.  Soldier of Fortune II was in the box, but Return to Castle Wolfenstein was not.  Other than that, the bundles are basically identical.
