Cranking up the demand for bandwidth just a little, we have MadOnion's Video 2000 MPEG 2 Encode test.

MadOnion Video 2000 and Quake 3 Arena
Bandwidth on demand

Showing off the strong suite of the P4 architecture, MPEG 2 Video Encoding is a memory bandwidth intensive exercise.  Here we see the two TH7s rule the roost by a comfortable margin against the Athlon DDR platform.  The TH7II-RAID once again shows a little more muscle.  However, again this is one area where the P4 shines and as we have seen, the Athlon has its strengths over the P4 as well.

In this Quake 3 Timedemo run, we have turned the resolution and color depth down in an effort to maximize throughput from the GeForce3 graphics pipeline.   This isolates the CPU more effectively, so that bandwidth and computer power can be easily measured.  In this test we see much the same picture as we saw in the Video 2000 MPEG 2 Encode test.  You can't argue with 200+ frames per second, can you?

Finally, it seems as if the Pentium 4 platform is beginning to come of age, thanks in part to products like the Abit TH7II-RAID motherboard.  This board is a Overclocker's delight and its excellent stability will also satisfy corporate types that just want quality and up time.  Throughout all our testing, we did not experience so much as a hiccup with the TH7II-RAID.  Finally, its wealth of options and "value add" features like the "Abit Engineered" Overclocking Strips, really make it shine in the bang for your buck column.

We liked the Abit TH7II-RAID so much we're giving it a rare "EC"...

And the Heat Meter says!
