    Intel MOBO

    Hi Gang

New to this forum. Love computers and working on and building them. I know some, not all there is to know about them. ha ha

I have a problem I have been working on for a few days.

I have a Intel MOBO DG96WH, with a Intel 3.2 CPU. I have a SATA HD and SATA DVD rom drive connected to it. No cards installed. The HD is bare/clean I have the Intel MOBO install disk and a Raid floppy that came with it. I connected a floppy to it and it would not read it, but yet it shows all of them in the bios, the floppy, HD, and DVD rom. It is like they are not there. I have tried several combinations as to what its boot order is too.

I cannot get it to get to the install or desk top, it stops at
PXE-E6I Media test failure ck cable
    PXE-MOF Exiting Intel boot agent
No bootable device-Insert boot disk and press any key
I have substituted every thing in site, cables, HD's, DVD drives, Power supply, ram, etc. Nothing changes from this. In the bios I cannot get the SATA ports to change from not installed, All 6 SATA ports say not installed, and no change in the bios lets me have a shot at getting them installed. They are like in dark print, where everything else that you can change is a light gray color. You go down this list and it jumps right over the SATA ports. How do you get these installed, I think this is what is holding me back from being able to get the OS installed.

Sorry about the long explanation but I figure you have to know all the info in order to help fix my problem.

Any and all help will be appreciated........Thanx...Gunny

You said you were running raid. Try one hard drive instead of 2 in raid. Or maybe pick up a raid controller.

     Hi Bob

No I am not running Raid for right now, I am just trying to get this thing going. It keeps asking for a boot disk, I don't have one. Now what.?

    Thanx...Gunny

    Re: Intel MOBO

it's looking for the operating system install disk. If the hard drive is clean it can't boot from that and the floppy disk you are reffering to does not have an operating system on it. It's looking for you to install the operating system via the installation cd whether it be xp or vista or whatever you choose to install.
