I am planning on building a new multi-purpose system that will predominently be a gaming system.  It’s been years since I’ve built one, though I have built many in the past.  I’d like good honest opinions from those with current experience.  I’m particularly interested in ensuring that all the parts are compatible, that they will all fit in the selected case, and that I haven’t gone too far overboard (i.e., 1KW PS).  I appreciate your input.

Everything looks really good. I would go with a different graphics card. Other than that it looks great.

Im with bob id go with the 4870 X2 for the gfx card

I'd definitely look at bumping up the graphics card for gaming though too

MX-2 is great and no curing

The PSU link shows the 700W Kingwin, but I think that's all you'll need

For the RAM I'm not sure you have to go with a 4 stick kit - two matched 2 stick kits have worked for me

I can vouch for the WD6400AAKS HDDs - they're fast and quiet

Might want take a look at the Q9550, it's alot cheaper and the Q9650 multi is only .5x higher (from the board I'm assuming you'll be OC'ing  )

I should have my Q9650 any time now if your not building right away I can tell you what I think.

Thanks for the good feedback.  Basically, the consensus is to bump up the video card to the 4870 X2, which sounds pretty good--it's got twice the ram and uses GDDR5.  I think zombiemaster's suggestion of dropping down to the Q9550 might be a good idea--I could put the difference in processor price into getting the 4870 X2.  Thanks, again.  Any more suggestions?
