So I need suggestions! This is my first time building a pc. I'll be using it mainly for games (like Cod4 and Conan) and I have a limit of about $1250 (not including a new monitor, which I need help choosing too). I plan on buying these parts within the next two weeks and then getting a friend to help me assemble it but I'm still undecided on some things like I have no clue what memory to get (or if the listed motherboard is the best for the money). Also I don't know if everything will be completely compatible (looks good to me so far but still). So help me out here!

I know you have a budget and are considering a Raptor, but have you met MR. VELOCIRAPTOR yet?

That looks nice but for the price I was thinking I could just get a 150gb Raptor plus another bigger but slower drive that I could use to store my music/movies on? I've been told that using the Raptor primarily for games would make everything a little faster.

Take a look at THIS hard drive comparison that was written a few months before the introduction of the Velociraptor, Withering. Hopefully the info will help you decide what is best for you (and your budget)!

I looked through those charts and it seems that the Barracuda 7200.11 faired pretty well through out the tests. I was thinking (if I don't get the original 150gb Raptor) I could just a 36gb Raptor (for games) and a 750gb Barracuda 7200.11(for music/movies)? Altough the Barracuda seems to get mixed reviews... wish I could afford that Velociraptor...

Those charts show both the Barracuda 7200 and the Samsung Spinpoint F1 outperforming the Raptor, so I am puzzled as to why you would still want to purchase a Raptor. For about the same price as the 150 GB Raptor you could purchase a better-performing Samsung Spinpoint F1 and get a whole 1 TB of storage capacity. Look HERE. But that Velociraptor is a whole different story!
