    Intel or AMD?

I know I'm opening up a Pandora's Box thread right here, but I can't decide which one to go with. Both builds differ only in the CPU and brand of Motherboard. Same, RAM, PSU, Case, Fans evertying - even the same North Bridge... So here are the specs and prices. *Before I start, I'd like to add in that if I go AMD, I'll be using the onboard GPU (Intel version doesn't have that.) and then upgrading to an 8800GT. If I go with Intel, then I"ll be getting an 8800GS to start of with then go to an 8800GT using Evga's Step Up Program. I'm only doin' it like that so I can get a PC faster, lol. Okay, here's the specs on the Intel Case: Rosewill R6426-P BK ($30 PoS, but I'm adding two MONSTER 120mm fans.) MoBo: MSI P7N SLI LGA 775 nVidia 750i SLI Intel Motherboard PSU: COOLMAX CUG-700B 700W ATX 12V( V.2.2) Power Supply (For possible SLI.) CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 Allendale 2.4GHz Memory: G. Skill 2 GB (2 x 1GB DIMM) DDRs 800Mhz Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM Optical Drive: Samsung DVD-R/W Graphics Card: Evga 8400GS 256MB Price: $616 Not bad, eh? Here's the AMD Version: Case: Rosewill R6426-P BK ($30 PoS, but I'm adding two MONSTER 120mm fans.) MoBo: ASUS M3N-HD HDMI AMD Socket AM2+ NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard PSU: COOLMAX CUG-700B 700W ATX 12V( V.2.2) Power Supply (For possible SLI.) CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz Memory: Memory: G. Skill 2 GB (2 x 1GB DIMM) DDRs 800Mhz Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM Optical Drive: Samsung DVD-R/W Price: $529 Okay, so my initial mathematics are off, lol. That's quite a bit cheaper... Well w/e, what do you guys think is the better choice?

I'm a little of an AMD fanboy, but honestly Intel is the smarter build now.  Depending on how little you pay for the CPU, AMD might initially get you a better bang for the buck, but the upgrade path for Intel is a much brighter one.  Unless you have the urge to give AMD your money (which I have Huh?) then I have to recommend the Intel build.

    Hello

    Re: Intel or AMD?

I was looking over my set up and I made some revisions, now the AMD Version costs only $500, compared to the $616 of the Intel. This is ONLY because of the onboard GPU on the AMD's Versions motherboard, if the Intel version had that as well, then the AMD version would be only about $50 cheaper... So I guess I'll be going AMD.
