    New Rig built!

New Hot Hardwarer here! Just got my new(mostly)rig built.Everything seems to be performing to spec.Been saving for a while since I'm disabled and SS barely sends me enough for food. But some things are more important than food!! Like my new budget gaming machine.Specs;AMD x2 5000+Black Edition,MSI k9ngm4-f nforce 7025 motherboard,2 gigs Gskill pc-6400,EVGA 8800gt 512mb graphics,Liteon dvd burner, and a n Arctic Cooler Freezer 64 Pro cpu cooler for the black edition(unlocked)cpu.Total from Newegg $429

I went with the 5000+be being short of cash and figured I could overclock it to 6000+ speeds.Since graphics are more important for gaming I spent over twice as much on the graphics card as the processor.Heard good things about Gskill so I went to them for ram.MSI is solid and I been using Arctic Cooling for years.

I  used my old case(Enlight), power supply(Thermaltake 430 watt) and hard drive(60gig WD 7200).Everything went together quickly as I'm an old pro and have been putting together systems for friends and family for years.

Pressed the power button and BEEP! started first time Whew!Entered bios and checked temps.31sys 32cpu fans running at 2400 and 2900,Normal.So I bumped the unlocked multiplier from 13 to 15 which bumps the cpu to 3.0ghz from 2.6 That's 6000+ speeds.Saved and restarted. After everything was installed I also bumped the graphics core and memory up to 650 and 1900.I ran a few benchs to test performance.10545 in 3dmark06.  Crysis at1440x900 High settings--36 fps  gpu  --35 fps cpu built-in benchmark. All in all I'm happy with my new build.Sure beats my old 9800pro.-Victor in Cincinnati

    Re: New Rig built!

Congrats Victor!  That is impressive for sub $500.  I have been looking at the black edition CPUs, but haven't had the will to upgrade to one.  I feel if I upgrade now, it will take longer for me to get my next computer scraped together.

     Welcome!

Nice build. Good performance on a budget.

By the way, what is the temperature of your 8800GT in idle and load?

If you think you can’t do something, you’ll never be able to do it. No matter how easy it is.

With 169.21 drivers at 29% fan, temp was 54 idle and 78 load.I installed Rivatuner and bumped up fan speeds and temps came down to 48 idle 73 load at 50% fan

Cool, thanks for the info! I might try to overclock my card in the summer when I have more time to fiddle with it and stress test it.
