Give me your thoughts on this build --- crisis causers idea

Ok so Crisis Causer gave me some ideas and I just wanted to know what the rest of you think. What could I add on for less money but better or same quality? I new at this so bear with me. What else do I need except for the mouse keyboard and monitor? Do I need some kind of cooling system. FYI all of this stuff is from newegg awesome site!!!

Nope that every thing you need, you could go with a DVD burner with out light scribe and get it for 8 or so less.but all in all its a nice build for little $

The main thing is that this is very future proof.  When neccessary, you can upgrade to a faster Quad-Core CPU and a better graphics card.  Not to mention the CPU is very overclockable (most people can reach 3GHz).

I guess you don't need a 500GB hard drive, but for only $30 more than a 250gb, why not?

Btw, here's the link to the list.  They finally made it public:

    http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=7495951

And yeah, you could save a few bucks on the DVD burner.  I'm just a sucker for customer choice award winners.

I suggested the video card because it has free shipping and a $30 mail-in-rebate.  If you don't take rebates into much consideration, you might want to consider:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134039

Since it has 512mb of ram.  However, at $10 more +$6 shipping, it will raise the total price a little bit.  And no mail-in-rebate.  Call of Duty 4 will benefit a little from more memory, but hardly at all if you don't game above 1280x1024.  I don't know much about the company ECS either.  Anyone have any knowledge on ESC quality?  Anyway, if you trust mail-in-rebates, just go with what I originall suggested, because $50 is a hell of a bargain.

It looks good, but I would maybe invest some money in a better processor. If you can spend just a little more money, go with an Intel with more L2 cache and a bit higher stock clock speeds.

    ^QFT^

    Agreed.

The E4500 has 2mb of cache and an 11 multiplier which should complement some healthy OC'ing if you're planning to go that route. If not, 2.2ghz on an 800mhz bus should suit general computing and light gaming just fine.

It sells @ Newegg for 120 which is a decent value/bang for buck IMO. LINK

a cpu, a board, some ram, a gfx card, an opty, a hdd and a psu... all in a case

you know i might just add that whoud this also mean i need a better power supply? do i need to upgrade anything else since the prosseser is now better?

I know i have asked this before but what do i need to buy to get my wireless internet going i have linksys router?

I am a still a young gun so this question might be stupid do i need to buy a cooling fan or some sort of cooling component so my PC dosent go up in flames.

I just really want to have an all around good first PC build experience with out also spending my life savings so I really appreciate all of you guys that are helping me out

If you want to OC the CPU then you will need an after market heatsink/fan. If you plna to keep it a its stock settings then you wont need a new one. You can get a sound card if you want but that mobo above come with onboard audio, unless you plan on running 5.1 then i dont reall see the need for one, I run onboard sound and it suits me fine.

now about this whole over clocking buisiness now I think I know its purpose

it improves a processers speed right?

its it fairly easy to overclock a CPU?

    can it harm my CPU?

what heat skink would you reccomend for the one in the build or the other one that recovering know it all linked to

even if I dont overclock my CPU but still had a heat sink would my system run any better?

also what do you mean by Mobo? Im new so all of the acronims and lingo kind of goes over my head!

    Thanks for the opinion

    Chrismic3:
now about this whole over clocking buisiness now

Overclocking basically implies with the term says -- its taking a component (whether it be RAM or CPU or Video card) and making it run faster that what the advertised speed is. For example: a CPU that is clocked at 2.4Ghz overclocked might run at 3.0Ghz.

    Chrismic3:
its it fairly easy to overclock a CPU?

It isn't that hard once you research quite a bit -- there is a pretty good handful of stuff to get down before you start to overclock. This brings me to your next question....

    Chrismic3:
    can it harm my CPU?

Yes it may if you are not familiar with the process of stable overclocking. Usually what happens is that people will either a) overclock with too much voltage and overheat the component or (b) overclock the bus speed too far and cause general system instability so its tough to use without crashes/locking up.

    Chrismic3:
even if I dont overclock my CPU but still had a heat sink would my system run any better?

No matter what CPU you but it should have some sort of a heatsink on it -- without one your CPU would die in less than 15 minutes. Think of it as running a car with no radiator, fans, or oil........I am sure it would run for a bit but its going to fail pretty fast. On that note if you buy a new CPU retail (not OEM) it will come with what is called a "stock cooling" solution that will do just fine to start you off

My advice is -- before you think about overclocking ask a LOT of questions and read as much as you can on how-to's. We'll be here to help ya out!!

Re: Give me your thoughts on this build --- crisis causers idea

Since you are on a budget, I would suggest you don't worry about a sound card unless you are really into sound.

I would also suggest you don't overclock right away. Just run your system stock for now. Later on, when you know more about computers and need the extra speed because you are satisfied with your performance, then overclock. After you upgrade from stock cooling.

If you think you can’t do something, you’ll never be able to do it. No matter how easy it is.
