Intel Levies Heavy CPU Price Reductions

Good news, for those of you looking for a better deal in CPUs, came across the wire today from Intel. New price reductions have been announced and one could say they're taking price points down to bargain-basement levels in some spots, with cost savings ranging from 12% to a whopping 50% on the Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz processor.  This pricing represents major reductions across both 45nm and 65nm CPU families in both their desktop, value and workstation/server lineup.  This move will definitely turn up the burners on rival AMD. Read 'em and weep...

B3 Phenoms are going to have a tougher time competing with various Core 2 Quad chips at these price points; the Core 2 Quad Q6600 leading the charge at $224.

Wow.  They are really putting the stranglehold on AMD now.  Though the Q6700 was wildly overpriced for a long time, I'm surprised it took them this long to drop the price - there's no way it sold well.  GG AMD.  I'm a fanboy, but if I plan to upgrade my system soon these low prices are making some good points.  I hope that once AMD is out of the game Intel continues to keep prices low like this.

    Yes, very tempting...

But I'm still pretty satisfied with my E6300. I think it would be best for me to wait for either Nehalem or it's die shrunked revision.

How soon will online vendors reflect these price changes?

Re: Intel Levies Heavy CPU Price Reductions

Q6700 is $289.99 at Newegg right now, so that's close.  The E6850 is also only slightly above the new price drop.  The Q6600 is exactly at the new dropped price.  So I'd say it's in effect now, more or less.  But for those CPUs slightly overpriced it might be wise to wait a bit and see if they drop.

I'm still stuck with a AMD 3700+, The problem for me to upgrade is the invisible cost. A new motherboard and new RAM aren't cheap either. I doubt AMD is going to go bust, still Intel's dominance is gaining solidarity.

The best quad to get is the Q6600 currently, because the 45nm quads had problems with the supplies and their price grew unnaturally.

     Q6600 for $200 @ Frys.com (Link)

My roommate bought one 2 weeks ago. The price dropped to $180 on 16th and now it is back up to $200.
