Need help with Overclocking on this board P5N32-E Sli

Some time ago a nice forum member helped me pick  this board out for my new system bulid. The board has met all of my expectations and now I would like to do some overclocking. The problem I have is when I go into the Bios to adjust my settings, first I set the AI Tuner to manual and then proceed to the FSB and Memory Conf. at that point I set it to Unlinked but my other settings are grayed out and I can't change anything. They are showing 1333mhz and 800mhz. I'm new to overclocking and I must be doing something wrong. I running Bios version 1205 if this helps. Mainly I was hoping that the person who also had this board could help me out . I appreciate all your help and many thanks to you guys.

You have a fantastic rig. I have a similar you can easily overclock the CPU using the AI by 20% to 3.6GHz. This takes about 5 minutes to do, and is super stable. Do you really need to go further?

I tried the AI at 20% but mine gives me a very long beep at bootup and I have to restart and it loads back to default. Did you change any of your voltages?

don't bother with the AI tuner. in simple generic terms you need to boost the voltage on the FSB and CPU, that will give you some head room for you FSB Mhz increases, then go and get a program called Orthos and you will need another program to monitor system temps.

Just do some reading on Overclocking, there are a few good guides out on the net and even though they are not written for your mobo directly they still apply.

Re: Need help with Overclocking on this board P5N32-E Sli

I understand and know how to raise the voltage on my cpu however I don't see the opition to increase the voltage for the FSB. Would that setting be called something else on my board?

Re: Need help with Overclocking on this board P5N32-E Sli

On our board it is called the HT voltage (I think it is the "1.2v  HT") you need to up that.

Right now on my setup Here are my voltages:

    1.46 core

    1.5 HT

    1.4 (or 1.45) Northbridge

    1.5 south bridge

CPU VTT is very important for overclocking, and has no effect on temps, so set this to its max (1.55)

This board is very very picky about voltages, 1.4 v for the NB might be perfectly stable, but upping it to 1.45 might make it completely unstable.

Thanks for the info , but  I have given up on the P5N32-E SLI and built a new system based on the P5K premium . I 'm finding it to to alot easier to overclock and my system is running stable clocked at 3.8 on air cooling.

you can but you better have great air cooling or good water cooling
