Is there an SMP client for XP?

Yeah, so is there an SMP for xp? because i have an X2 and it seems like a waste kinda since it's only using 50% of the power.

RE: Is there an SMP client for XP?

According to VJ on the official forums it is being worked on. But is more complex to code.

Why not put VMWare on it and run linux for the linux SMP client.

Or if your just interested in points, the GPU client will put out a lot more points than a second instance of F@H. From what I have read on the forums the GPU client is an absolute monster.

RE: Is there an SMP client for XP?

well i don't really feel like going to linux and as for the gpu client it's only good for ATI X1xxx cards so i guess i'm out of luck till they release the smp client for xp. out well it was worth a thought.

    Thanks anyways

    Damn, there goes my advantage.

I've had a Dual Xeon 5150 running the winsmp client for a while now. It's an absolute points machine sub 8 mins a frame on 1200+ points WU. Mmm mmmm

Heh, that's insane Larac I just installed in on my PC, hopefully it will pull more points in.

I'm actually debating getting core cpus now...from all the news going around the web, I think that Intel is sweating Barcelona. I might go for a quad-father and drop 2 Barcelonas in there.

Here's my workings on points generated by the winsmp client. All on my Dual Xeon 5150 2.66Ghz 4GB FBDDR2. There are some points differences between the types of workunits, but it's a sweet little client. You do get a better PPD on some WU's running the linux smp client.

    Project 2651.
    time/frame - 00:10:15
    Average 142 frames/day with UL/DL times. Now as the 2651 is worth 1760 points, I make that about 2500 points/day or 625 points/day/core or 235 points/day/ghz.

    Project 2652.
    time/frame - 00:08:27
    Average 165 frame/day with UL/DL times. This ones worth 1148 points, I make that about 1900 points/day or 475 points/day/core or 179 points/day/ghz

I've got a dual E5345 2.33Ghz quad core with 8GB FBDDR2 which I'm going to put to folding soon. That should put a few points out.....

Good lord have mercy Larac! You might depose Mathcool! A task I thought we'd never really see. I'm going to wait a few weeks, Apple is supposedly going be dropping a new iMac. It might end up being a quad-core design, and if it is, I'll be grabbing one of those w/the biggest monitor possible. Either way, I plan on adding a new 3800+ for my wife, which will replace her existing 700mhz or so Celeron. That should pump out frames fairly fast. When Barcelona comes out, I plan on grabbing a quad-father board and popping two of those bad-boys in there.

Is there an SMP client for XP?

Trouble is most of my folding is done on pre-live project servers, so at some point the departments who funded them are going to want to use them for running their access databases or some other nonsence like that......
