    Thanks!"

    *****************************************

Info straight from the folding homepage....

Our goal: to understand protein folding, protein aggregation, and related diseases

What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases , such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.

What does Folding@Home do? Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.

How can you help? You can help our project by downloading and running our client software. Our algorithms are designed such that for every computer that joins the project, we get a commensurate increase in simulation speed.

What have we done so far? We have had several successes. You can read about them on our Science page, Results section, or go directly to our press and papers page.

    (end of F@H homepage info)

Well fellow PC enthusiasts, here is our chance to both make our site shine, and support a great cause at once! I, along with others strongly encourge you to join our Folding@Home team. It is very easy to setup, and only uses EXTRA cpu cycles. This software running in the background does not slow down your computer at all. Please put your extra cpu cylces to a good cause.

I've got 5GHz worth of CPUs folding as we "speak"...I'll work on a graphic for the Team page, and will find a spot on the main page to pimp the folding team also. I'll get Dave to create a new Forum section as well...

FYI, I plan on thoroughly kicking all of your asses I'm thinking of changing my name to BigWU...hehe

Just so everyone knows I am folding under the name Benn7216, since Ben is my name.

I heard AMD folds better then Intel but I am not sure.

Also once we break like 4000 work units, I think we can make it to the top 100.

That's right...The Ol' BigWop has cranked out 3 WUs already! I've recruited a few friends, and will get all of the guys on the site to contribute as much as they can.

We're very late to this "game", if we're able to break into the top 100 it'll be one heck of a feat.
