Re: Folding @ Home for HotHardware

    peti1212:

I have just finished another one and a third one is on the way. :)

What's the best graphical client to run right now?  I tried the 6.04 beta in Vista but it crashed on me.  I have a QX6850 and Vista 32.

I am using the 5.03 version one. It is working perfectly for me on my Core 2 Duo E6550. :) Hope this helps!

Try either running four instances of the console version or one instance of the SMP client.

Oh, now I get what he wanted. You can only run once instance of the Graphical console. The SMP might mbe in command console, but it is still nice to see that you can get around  1500 points if you fold for like 1-2 days in a row with only once instance. The SMP version allows you to run many cores in one instance. :)

Re: Folding @ Home for HotHardware

The SMP client is fantastic, I had a q6600 rig next to me a couple weeks ago, and damn was I surprised by the performance

I just jumped on the hothardware team ^_^. I was folding for a different forum I'm a regular at, but they don't need my help, they are already in the top 100. Even though I only have a 3.2 prescott...atleast it'll contribute something to hothardwares team =P. I pretty much pull a WU every 2-3 days..lol. So yea...Expect to see my name up on that list in a couple days...lol..

I have a spare dual AMD MP 1800+ rig, nothing extremely powerful obviously, but once I can scrounge up some cash to get a replacement power supply for it (the psu in it gives off a burning smell when turned on, so I know it's about to die), I'll pop it up as a 24/7 folding rig for HotHadrware ^_^....

If only I had a PS3 >_<. Damn machines are folding monsters.

Let the folding begin. My rig will probably be about as useful with this folding as it would be folding laundry, but nevertheless she's on the job.

15/1500 frames completed, only 04d:04h:45m until my first WU's completed! This would seem to be rather slow. How long does it normally take others on here for 1 WU?

By the way, I tried to edit my above post to add this ^ to it and I got the following message:

    Oops something went wrong!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too.

I also tried to edit some other posts and had no problems, so it must be specific to either the Folding Forum, or this thread.

Well I just downloaded and started using the client. I've been meaning to do this forever. Hanging out here and seeing everyone doing it has allowed my guilt to make me get off my duff and get started.

I used to carry a hammer in my computer tool kit. Just for fixing the packard Bells though.......
