Quick question for everyone - a few weeks ago ASUS released the AEH4870 - a video card I was really looking forward to buying ... But then quickly after I realized it started to "disapeer", a lot of stores removed it as a produce from their listing, newegg set it "Deactivated" and most stores that still list it are out-of-stock...

Now I know 2-3 stores that still have a few - and typically I am a huge ASUS fan ... but this has be a little worried.
Does anyone know what happened to cause this? Is the video card bad? recall? issues?

Any information would be greatly appreciated - I was hoping to buy a 4870 today and if not this then maybe the VisionTek ...
(ASUS board - ASUS video card - only makes sense)

If not - which would you recommend? Given that they are all pretty much the same price...

I would wait a few weeks if they stopped shipping them they might be making a updated version

I read the reviews of the EAH4870 on the NewEgg (deactivated) web page and most everyone seems to like it. I also did some Googling but didn't find any problems with it. You may be concerned that it was pulled because of problems with the product, but I couldn't find any evidence of that. Perhaps it just had a very short product lifecycle? NewEgg doesn't have it at the moment, but others still do (see HERE).

They also may have sold out and with it not being out very long this is NEWEGG if you live in the US and are any type or hardware junkie or person who buys hardware out of the business circle you most likely use da egg the guy who made newegg has to be so rich either way maybe they sold there stock of that item and have'nt restocked to sell off some other 4870 stock b4 they order more I'm sure they have 4870'f from any ati card manufacturer and there product orders are easy in the 1000's per item

I think it just comes down to ati sending out the 4870 in short supply or asus has decided to change up their offering slightly, possibly some after market cooling solutions are on the way as the next round will be at the start of the next fab run
