    Discovering new music

I've been trying to descover new music and I like to sing along with my music, in the car or at my place. I like to learn the works. Amarok is great for this. It has a side bar that give you wikipedia info on the band and lyrics for the song. I have been using windows vista more than linux lately and I want to find something like this in windows.

I am becoming less and less satisfied with Itunes lately. I have tryed the KDE for windows alpha and it is just to buggy at this point in development to use as a good solution.

I was just wondering what other people use as media players and what there favorate functionaltity is?

    Re: Discovering new music

I just tried out media monkey as reccommended by transam a few days ago. Not using anything more than windows media player for music and vlcplayer for anything video i hadn't much expirience with other programs. So I haven't anything else to compare it to. However it does seem feature rich

Thanks warlord and indirectly transam That seems cool downloading it now. I'm still open to others, but this seems really cool!

bob, you can download Evil Lyrics for free which is a plugin for just about every major Windows based media player.

I use mainly MediaMonkey but also use iTunes now that I have the remote app on my iphone and can control my iTunes library over WiFi. It's pretty awesome.

    Re: Discovering new music

I've used media monkey up until I got my Zune and now I use the Zune software.  I'd recommend mediamonkey. I've also used foobar 2000.  Foobar takes more time to get used to because it is 100% customizable.  You can download plugins like adding lyrics so you can see the lyrics of the songs.  You can change the arangement of all the buttons...the list goes on.

[edit] I wasn't sure if you first wanted to find new bands to listen to. If that were the case in addition to software I'd recommend last.fm.  You can listen to peoples radios, which plays music they listen to. you can also listen to band specific songs.  Sadly there is a limit on how much you can listen too without the subscription.

I have been using last.fm but its hard to get into the music because I hear a song once and there are no lyrics then I forget about them untill a month later when I hear them again. I have been using mediamonkey and I like it a lot.
