    HH thumb drive dead :(

Well i have been faithfully using my HH thumb drive since i got it, and have loved it.  Yesterday i plug it into my computer to get some text files off of it and it says one is corrupted and i get a delayed write failure.  So i decided to backup my drive, and in the process it copied some, then failed and i had to reboot my computer cause it locked it up.  Now any computer i plug it into, it detects it as a different flash drive now and it is half the size, so im guessing one of the RAM chips inside it failed.

Well it sucks to see such a nice drive die, and loosing some of my data, but nothing that really mattered to much, just abunch of programs and junk i use to fix compys.  I guess ill format it and see if half of it works.  I hope others that have gotten HH thumb drives dont experience my fate, but it wouldnt be a bad idea for you guys to backup up your data on them regularly.

I got one of those HH drives and my son has a bunch of stuff stored on it, but nothing too important (I gave the drive to him after he 'lost' his own drive at school). It has been very faithful to us, but unfortunately they don't last forever!

Unfortunately I lost my HH thumb drive at my university. :-(

But it worked perfectly while I still had it.  I've had USB thumb drives die before though, it just happens.

Re: HH thumb drive dead :(

I had a 512mb one i bought about 3-4 years ago same exact style only no logo on it. the 512MB one died an untimely death right after its 90 day warranty was up. Since then I've gotten a bout 10 drives of the same style from various places with different company logos on them. None of the 10 freebies have died yet. But I don't use those daily. daily I use my ironkey

the other drives i use for things like bootable system recovery discs or USB windows installation discs.

well no luck on getting it to work, linux cant see it, windows trys to format it but then it says it cant due to the media being write protected lol.  I still have my old standby kingston datatraveler that i have had for 4 years and it still works just fine, though the thing that holds the cap on it is broken.
