DDR3 crossed my mind but although it's a money is no object system, I wanted it to make sense as well and configure it as is I was actually going to buy it.  I can overclock the bejesus out of that DDR2 and get better performance, so if I was to buy this system, that's ewhat I would buy,

BTW. If anyone is interested, I can post the specs of the 4 loop cooling system I designed for it.

Are you actually in the market for a system like that?

If so, money must really be no object for you in which case I hope you don't win the rig!!! ;P

a cpu, a board, some ram, a gfx card, an opty, a hdd and a psu... all in a case

I have as much chance at buying that rig as I have of getting a date with Paris Hilton AND Britney Spears in the same week. ( A fate I wish on no man mind you.) Oh AND winning the lottery 7 days in a row as well.

It is already a lot of money. Spending a few hundred more to get DDR3 should be not big deal.

Sure, post the specs on the 4 loop cooling system. I hope you stuck a peltier in that kit. :P

I don't think you need dual 1200W power supplies. People usually buy a higher wattage to compensate for future upgrades (like adding a second gpu and more hard drives). But you wouldn't really have to really worry about that. lol

If you think you can’t do something, you’ll never be able to do it. No matter how easy it is.

    Re: Dream rig

It really wasn't the money Ryu. I wanted raw speed and I think I can get better performance out of the DDR2.

4 pumps, 10 hard drives, countless fans and two power hungry video cards, I thought to err on the side of caution for the PSU's.

I thought about peltier but the pain in the butt factor made me rethink it. I'll post the specs for the cooling tomorrow when I feel like typing more.
