Asus Eee Box B202 Desktop System Evaluation

ASUS Eee Box Image GalleryAsus certainly made a splash this year with their line of ultra-light, ultra-affordable Eee PC notebooks and they've been fleshing out the product line ever since with a wealth of new offerings, as the company continues to milk the product's successful brand name recognition for all it's worth.

Today marks the introduction of the $299 Asus Eee Box to the US market, but we've had a unit in house for the better part of a month now. Just what does $299 buy you in terms of capabilities and features, in an absolutely tiny footprint? You're about to find out.

I'm sold, now when is this going to be available? Newegg's got nothing and Amazon has a pre-order price of $349. I can't even find a mention of this thing on Asus's website

    Hi Retro,

Thanks for visiting HH and welcome. I'm sorry to report that $299 was in fact a typo. We've adjusted the pricing to $349, according to current MSRP.

    Thanks

Thanks guys. I was waiting to see this. Impressive to say the least. I was surprised to see it did better in things it wasn't really meant to. I think $299 is a more realistic price point. While nothing to brag about, a low end system from a retail outlet would be just $50 more and give you a lot more upgrade options to extend life. Unless of course your primaty reasaon to buy is the power consumtion. (Or lack thereof!)
