    I gotta ask....

I was in Best Buy yesterday, (Eyeing up stuff I can't afford. Again!) and I was talking to the guy in the computer department about flash drives. We started talking about our own. (As geeks are prone to do. No "i'll show you mine if you show me yours" jokes plz!) When a woman nearby asked why I would want one. Wasn't I afrain of setting my computer on fire. ???????????? I kid you not. I couldn't make stuff like that up if I tried. I nearly had a stroke laughing so hard. Just when I thought I had heard the stupidest tech statement or question, along comes this. So what has been the dumbest thing you've heard or been asked? You can't quote the "Any key". We've all heard that. :)

I used to carry a hammer in my computer tool kit. Just for fixing the packard Bells though.......

A co worker gave me her kids laptop to look at she said the screen was acting funny. I figured I'd update the video drivers and be done. I get home open up the computer and the screen is cracked. A big smash down the middle and cracks running all through out. I asked her if it had been dropped or if someone maybe hit it. She said no it just started acting funny.

LOL. Maybe she dropped some acid and tried to become one with the Matrix. :)

I spent some time in hell.... err, working at Best Buy. I wish I had a dollar for every person that asked if we carried UBS cables. I got jaded and started telling them no, we have never carried UBS cables.....

Oh man, you have to learn to play with people like that. Devil

I would have turned to her with a wild maniacal look on my face and start chanting 'Fire, fire, fire! Muahahahah!'

I knew a kid who thought data transfer through wires was affected by gravity, so when trading his Pokémon to me he would stand on a chair with his Gameboy held up high above his head.

I love this stuff. I would have had fun with her too FSeven, but this was one of those things that catches you so off guard, all you can do is laugh you butt off. By the time I stopped laughing, she was gone. No doubt thinking me insane.

HAHA! Thanks for the share! So after his Pokemon traded to you and your's was about ready to go, did you guys switch places with you on the chair?

Pokemon... I remember those days. I was like a master even though I didn't own a Gameboy. I just kept playing everyone elses and before I knew it, I was pretty good. More people kept giving their Gameboy to me to past those annoying parts like caves, how to get to the legendary birds, etc.

I just remembered this one. I had a customer on the phone that was having trouble with her CD/DVD-RW drive. It wasn't reading CDs. I asked her if she had 2 "optical" drives. She sounded real confused and replied, "I don't understand, should I put my glasses on"?

I told her she had an unfixable ID 10 T error and would need a new drive.

    Rofl. I love this stuff.

    Re: I gotta ask....

I have a very attractive coworker that took her laptop to bestbuy because it was bluescreening. They told her that when the blue screen came up were it says memory dump it was deleting her stuff. She was excited that they recovered her deleted files and only charged her $120. She wanted to tell me how great they were to her. I asked to see her computer right away and the only program installed on the 3 days they had it was nvidia drivers. Her pictures had been viewed the same day. That was a week ago I'm thinking of going down there and raising H-E-double hockey sticks.

    Re: I gotta ask....

Sounds typical of BB/Geek Squad. When I worked there some of the guys had multiple DVDs burned of porn they found on customer machines. It was SOP that new machines would be scoured for pics before they were ever looked at. Myself a a couple others refused to participate but other than us everyone else did. Your friend was defrauded. I would like to go in and raise heck too, but you might want to see a lawyer instead. This crap has to stop. It makes honest techs look bad and makes it harder for us to make a living. Eventually the public trust will evaporate and where will we be then?
