Hai all, i'm new here, i got this problem when i start to format my pc, but the problem occur where the copy file process have an error where, it tells me the cannot copy .dll, sometimes say the modem.sys is not a valid image. i skip and keep skip until done, but the windows have too many error maybe because of the not complete copy the file. So i try to format again and still the same, then i take out the hard disk and put it in another pc, and format there, then its working fine. then i take it out and put it back to where it is. then got an error. so the problem is not about the software, but i think its about hardware. Then i take out all the component, and assembling it back, suddenly the problem become more worst. My pc cannot start anymore, the cpu fan doesn't start and i can hear a weird sound in about 2 second, and then my pc turn off. i'm using MSI motherboard and AMD processor. If the RAM sound, its beep 6 times. but this is a weird sound. i never heard it. Please help me, i dont have any way to solve it.

 It sounds to me like you have a defective motherboard. I would RMA it.

RMA? what is that? actually, before i assemble it, the processor fan working well, but problem with the windows setup process. then i thought its about hardware problem, then i take out all component, and try not to plug in the CPU fan to the motherboard, because my friends say that the sound occur maybe because of the CPU fan problem, then i just want to check the problem related to the cpu fan. then after that, the CPU fan not working anymore, actually its my office PC, i'm dead if the motherboard is broken..

 How long did the computer run without the fan hooked to the motherboard ? 

RMA means to Return Merchandise to the manufacturer for replacement or repair. You will have to call the board's manufacturer or the computer OEM. "Dell for example" However if you turned on your pc for a significant amount of time without any cooling its possible to have fried the cpu as well.

I do have a question though. You said you tried the hard drive in another pc and it worked fine. But my question is did you use a DVD to install Vista. If you did, then the errors you mentioned could be from the DVD drive. I would try that other computer's DVD drive in the new system and see if it still gives errors. If it does then it is most likely motherboard failure.

You said you took everything out and it got worse. Double check carefully all of the power connections and cables, make sure nothing metalic like a screw is stuck under your motherboard or something.

Hurm, thanks for reply FlyinBrian, yeah, for the first time, i thought it is because of the dvd rom or the dvd itself, but i'm wrong, i try change the dvd-rom, but still the same, so i thought maybe because of the processor? is it possible it is processor fault that cause the copy file from the cd? Actually i triple check the connection and cables etc, but i still not satisfy and try want to check it, but all staff look at me strangely, because i practical student, and new there, and maybe they say me doing what i'm like to do it without asking permission, huhu. but i try to check again tomorrow, and try call the technician regarding the problem, but what make me feel strange, the sound. never heard it. actually i run the computer without the fan hooked to the motherboard just a few second, because i'm afraid when i push on button, nothing happen.. lol...

 Sorry none of that worked. But you tried the drive in another pc and it worked. You tried the DVD drive in another pc and it worked too.. Both of those items connect to the motherboard. I would say that motherboard is most definately defective. Call the manufacturer to return it for a new one. If you just bought it recently call the place you bought it from. Most companies have a 14 day return policy. No a processor wouldnt cause read/write error.
