    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

I would, but the lowest increment is .50000v, so the LOWEST I can got 1.67500v.

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

    Iain:

Well, I'd get a picture but I don't think I have a camera... I think my Step Mom has one, but I have to wait until she leaves, lol. So, let me try to be more descriptive... Basically, is says my vCore Voltage which is 1.17500v. Next to it it says "Auto". So, I highlight the "Auto" and hit enter. A menu comes up that says "Auto, Normal, .50000v, ect.". The voltages go up in VERY small increments. Except for that half a volt jump. So, let's say I select ".50000v". My voltage is now 1.17500 + .50000, right? Or, 1.67500v.

If you select .5, that is what your vcore will be. Well... not exactly because there will be a voltage drop. Anyways, the point is that you don't add it to what it states, in your instance 1.175V.

If you think you can’t do something, you’ll never be able to do it. No matter how easy it is.

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

I got it! I'm at 3.8Ghz right now, and I'm monitoring the temps with Sandra to make sure I ain't gunna blow my CPU, lol.... THe only thing bugging me is that in CPU-Z, it keeps saying my speed is either 2400.4Mhz, or 38000Mhz.... Wtf???? Now that I look at it says my multipliers 6 when it's 9.5... Either way, my scores in one test in Sandra went up by quit a bit....  So far it doesn't look like I've went passed 64C, is that too high???? If it is, how do I adjust the fan speed becaues there isn't an option in my BIOS -_-'

***Edit: What's a safe speed for my RAM? My BIOS wanted it at 1200Mhz, but I brought it down to 1066Mhz.... Is 1200Mhz, okay??? This the RAM:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134218

***Edit #2, lol: I noticed my North Bridge heatsink is so hot you can almost not touch it, is that bad?

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

Umm... is that 64C in idle or load??? And if it is load, are you stress testing it with something like Prime95 or Orthos?

    What heatsink/fan are you using?

The safest speed for RAM is the speed the manufacturer specified. As for anything higher, you would have to stress test it to see if it is stable. But this is overclocking, and with overclocking anything, you should increase the speed in increments.

What exactly is your North Bridge temperature?

By the way, what pc case are you using so I can get an idea of the airflow your components are getting (or not getting).

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

64C was Idle, I think, next time I play a game I'll have Sandra monitor the temps...

    I'm using the stock Heatsink

Idk what the NB temp is... How do I check it?

Idk what case it is, the stickers came off (I got it free from a friend.) but it's got 4 80mm fans, two in front and two in back. It's an Old, Enermax case, I have like 7 pics if you want them though.

64C idle is a little warm for my personal tastes. Load will probably be pretty warm. I would probably get a better heatsink and/or back off the vcore and clock speed a little.

64C LOAD is a little warm for my taste.

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

64c idle is hellish. Under a load it could go up in smoke giving it didn't throttle or bsod and restart. Sounds like you need additional cooling , what you have isn't getting it done. Did you run orthos as i stated in a post to you previously? and memtest86x? Best of luck

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

After what's happened, I won't OC unless I have a good stream of income, because it just MESSED UP my PC. I mean, my RAM's at 800Mhz instead of 1066... Last time I tried to get it to run at 1066, my PC wouldn't stop Blue Screening...... lol so everything is at "stock"

These things can happen. Thats why it is so important to read the overclocking guide and understand it. Then follow through with proper testing. You can damage your equipment if you don't take the necessary precautions.

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

Well, I had it up to 3.0Ghz to test some things, and it's at 68C... But at 2.53 it's about 50C Idle... I can't belive it's that hot. I was just doing some SETI@Home, and at 100% load almost 70C is pretty hott, isn't it?

Yes very. what are your room temps?

And your voltages. Voltage will raise your temps a lot more than clock speed

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

Voltages are stock, and I have the AC on so it's probably about 60 - 70F in here... 70F MAX. I don't get why it's THAT hot, it's a friggin' Wolfdale man... I'm pretty sure even the 65NM CPU's don't get that much heat after a 500Mhz OC man...

With overclocking its all the luck of the draw. Get some better cooling and give it another go.

    Re: Can't Get Passed 3.2Ghz :(

Try reseating the heatsink and see if that net's ya some drops in temps. May try to load the default and see if a sensor is stuck sometimes this can hard reset the sensors.
