    Thank you to Hot Hardware

I'd like to say thank you to all of you (Der Meister, Crisis, Jordan, etc) who I bent your ear over the past 6 months trying to figure out how I would upgrade my rig.  Well, its just about done (just need to migrate to Vista 64).  But here's what I had and what I have now.

    HAD:

    AMD 4000+

    DFI LanParty NForce4 UT

    Sapphire Radeon X800XL Ultimate 512

    2 GB Corsair CMX1024-4000PT Memory (3.4.4.8)

    300GB Maxtor SATA/133 HDD

    160 GB Seatgate EIDE HDD

    Seasonic SS-430HB 430W PSU

    Apevia (Aspire)  X-Navigator Case

    NOW:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 Nvidia nForce 780i SLI ATX MB   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188024

    EVGA 9800 GTX KO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130348

    4 GB OCZ Reaper HPC  (PC2 6400) DDR 2 800  RAM   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227267

    Seagate 750GM SATA/133 HDD (Fry's - $109.95)

300GB Maxtor SATA/133 HDD  (being put into an external case for back-ups)

    HEC Ace Power 580W PSU

    Apevia (Aspire)  X-Navigator Case

    Thanks again

P.S.  There was only one "glitch" when I was putting everything together.  I put the Video Card into PCIe slot 3 (center slot) and the MB didn't like that and told me it needed to be in slot 1 since I wasn't running SLI.  Well, when I changed this, it wouldn't post anymore.  I ended up having to unplug EVERYTHING but 1 stick of memory, then remove the battery and reset the CMOS.  Only after that did the board reset the CMOS.  It took me calling EVGA to figure this out, but they were extremely helpful.

Yeah I know that one this summer will be operation upgrade for me. My Mom needs a new computer so do my 2 daughters and I wanted to upgrade my own system before thos issues ever cam up. I think I will wait till the price drops start before I start and I want the 4870 to be out for my personal system. I figure if I was gonna be doing all this upgrading I might as well as least swap and trade best components out to Sarah's system ( My #1 Lady) to so looks like I get to build 4 new systems (Woohoo). Don't know if I can afford it but I will just have to buy components 1 at a time or single mass components when I see big sales (can ya say 4 core 2 quad 2.66 or maybe phenoms depends where the chips lay)
