    AMD CTO Phil Hester Resigns

First Eight AMD Quad-Core OEM Platforms Avail. It's no secrect that AMD is struggling as of late due to problems executing and to intense competition from Intel and NVIDIA.  In the last few months a number of high ranking executives has resigned, the latest of which appears to be Phil Hester, the company's CTO.

"(AP) - The chief technology officer and vice president of chip maker Advanced Micro Devices is resigning, the company said Friday.

Phil Hester, 52, joined the company in 2005 after working for IBM Corp. for more than 20 years.

His resignation comes as AMD struggles amid intense competition from Intel Corp.'s and delays in the role out of key products.

AMD shares fell 5 cents to $6.22 in afternoon trading."

This is going to be a pivotal year for AMD.  From our perspective, it appears that their graphics and chipset divisions are running smoothly, and their CPU division is poised for some success now that the TLB issue is resolved and higher clocked Phenoms are starting to hit.  For the sake of competition, let's all hope AMD is able to work some of that magic that made the original Athlon such a success and turn things around.

yea hope that the resigns might make this a turning point in Amd to get some new people with fresh ideas. I like intel but i would hate to see intel control in cpu and trying to dip in gpu's as well

Usually not a good thing when people are resigning.  Especially if he used to work for IBM, which has some history with the business.

    Hello

Guess I should have waited before I upgraded to an AMD dual core/ATI video system.
