    The whole idea of having a 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC3-10666) kit sounds good to me.

    Indeed, but I'm waiting for prices to come down. I'll get a 4gb kit when it can be had for $450 or less.

    a cpu, a board, some ram, a gfx card, an opty, a hdd and a psu... all in a case

     $150 or less sounds good to me; I mean just take a look at DDR2 prices, it'll be sweet once DDR3 gets to the same price level.

    I'll take 2GHz clock speeds even if latencies are a bit higher, any day. Will be interesting to see how OCZ's new stuff compares to Corsair!

    lol, just imagine a 2000Mhz DDR3 memory with 4-4-4-12 timings. That would be insane. :)

    Davo: I'm REALLY excited regarding DDR3 when it comes to Nehalem. I'm dying to see how well they perform. Most of us know that there is no point in nabbing ddr3 atm considering the FSB architecture of intel processors. the Athlon X2's show the memory bandwidth when a IMC is involved. Considering the performance claims for Nehalem, it will be great to see DDR3 in tripple channel (and eventually quad ^_^) flavors with Nehalems IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) and QPI (Quick Path Interconnect). When Nehalem benchmarks are revealed, the x86 cpu community will be extatic =D.

    All the new stuff on the horizon is easy to get excited about, but if I were to win the 8 core beastie I'd quickly forget about what's coming up lol!

     LOL! Indeed man. I hear you on that. But even so, if I did win and still upgraded to nehalem, I'd just nab two budget boards, cases, and psu's. Throw in these tasty penryn quad extreme editions, and just use them for 24/7 foldings for hothardware ^_^...Win win if you ask me Wink. I'm really curious on how the performance difference will be between Nehalem and the core architecture, honestly, if it's seriously going to perform as hyped as they say it is (why not? they were right about netburst to core transition), than the gains might still be worth going nehalem.
