This thread may quickly grow larger than our "longest thread contest"!

With a contest like this it wouldn't suprise me. This prize is flat out amazing. Its got to be the most expensive givaway/contest prize in history lol.

why a Xeon workstation for a gaming dream?

the specs and the performance are in deed impressive, although the use of socket 771 and FB-DIMM instead of DDR3 make me wonder where Intel is trying to drive their traffic to... but with 1GB per core up and flying on this system, you wouldn't need top ask any questions... I wonder if NVidia has QUAD SLI drivers ready, cause if I win this monster system, the first Ima do is add in 2 more 8800GT's! HOO-AH! ;-P

Wow what did I miss. I haven't checked throught the forums in 2 days and holy crap. I just got on to reply to the emails about responses on a thread I opened so I didn't notice the new contest. So I started browsing through today and was thinking to myself man there are alot of new people on and the activity is way up. Wouldn't ya know there's a new contest. Guess that explains everything. Way to get the activity up on here guys and thanks again for another great contest. 1 thing I have noticed about the jump in new users over previous contests is that there are actually some new knowledgable users coming in. Thats the best news imo. good luck to everyone and ya'll better stick aorund!

It a WOW and A HA! Moment

Skulltrail brings new possibilities for CG experts. MoBo costing 6K (plus additional $s to build complete rig ) is out of reach --- to even above average enthusiast/Gamers. Gamers have to wait till computers games are optimized for two Intel CPUs.
In addition to Nvidia, it is very interesting to know that Intel is collaborating with AMD for graphics unit. Skulltrail supports both.
Ausus should give a hard look to their present Enthusial MoBo( like ASUS Striker II Formula / ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME ) designs. I think Intel will come up some scale down version of Skulltrail to embrace individual enthusiast/Gamers.
Skulltrail baby looks good and I will acquire one day

One aspect with this contest that surprises me is you guys are giving away a state of the art computer in such a short period.

    AMD Guy Comes Crawling Back...

Well, um, I recently posted that I would rather lick a scalding heatsink than purchase Intel. Talk about bad timing. Now here is this fabulous BEAST, and I am drooling. I just realized something: this is just the thing I need to kick the AMD habit! If I win this beautiful PC I plan to purchase a second Raptor and RAID it (something I have never done and I love a challenge). Send it to me and I promise to share my triumphs and frustrations with all!

    lol... you're too much Super!

It really is nice though isn't it... even a devout AMD guy such as yourself can appreciate the beauty of this setup from a technical aspect. This contest has breathed new life into the forums which I'm all for! Bad Boy posted saying that the winner has to promise to put this monster to work F@H for HH.

I agree with werty316. This contest has generated so much interest and forum activity that it would be a shame to end it so soon. Why not extend it for at least a month longer? That way the newer users will have a chance to introduce themselves, get comfortable, and help us all grow and learn more from each other. When the dust has settled and one lucky winner has the prize, the bigger prize will be that we have increased our knowledge and comraderie!

I have a better idea.  What do you say we just give away even more stuff?  Hmm... brilliant!  Cool
